Share short stories on random topics and discover that each of us has an endless supply of interesting tales.

Duration: 35 minutes. Introduction

Difficulty level: 1/5

Preparation

Participants sit in a circle in small groups 4-5 people each. Each group selects a leader to keep track of time.

Instructions

  1. Topic introduction: The first person picks a random subject (e.g., "bike") and shares their story.

  2. Storytelling: One by one, the participants share a short, real-life story that connects to the chosen subject. The story should have three elements: Opening - an introduction, Middle - a key moment or experience, and End - resolution or conclusion. Each person has 1 minute to tell their story.

  3. Continuing the Thread: Each following person must connect their story to the initial subject until someone can no longer think of a relevant story. If someone runs out of ideas, they can pass. Once several people pass, the group agrees to switch the topic.

  4. Change of Topic: After a few rounds or when a majority agree, the topic changes to something new (e.g., "rain," "dog," "family"). Repeat the process until the designated time runs out.

  5. Stop after 15 minutes.

Helpful tool

You can use a random word generator to choose the topic!

Wrap up

Ask participants about their impressions:

  • How was the exercise?

  • Was there anything surprising?

  • How has their understanding of personal storytelling has shifted?
